Walls Do Talk
Walls Do Talk
On a gorgeous sunny Saturday two area artists, Laura Bowman-McNeil and Del Sanders volunteered to paint a mural for {OFH} Clothing for a Cause. The wall can be seen when driving north on Macland Road in Powder Springs. It is already causing quite a stir. All day people would honk or call out approvals as the drove by.
The wall eludes to what the non-profit is about and yet begs you to come in and ask more questions. Logos of the people involved with them are displayed in graffiti on the faux brick. The skyline of Atlanta represents the homeless ministry they support with the profits from the shop. Money to support mission work in Siberia to Atlanta comes from this ever growing and changing shop.
Linda Lipp is the Executive Director/Founder. The ministry started as a simple clothing ministry several years ago. Led by God to do more, on faith she opened the store in November 2008. “I am always amazed at how this ministry has grown and how far reaching it has become”, say Linda.
The shop is totally dependent upon donations of clothing and home décor from area stores and people. Customers enjoy high end clothing at low prices. Everything is fresh and clean. While teen clothing is the mainstay, maternity and children’s to Plus sizes can be found in a fun urban boutique setting. Proceeds from the sales go directly to the ministries they support.
A furniture bank opens this week. The need presented itself when they were helping flood victims and now are assisting to get homeless families into apartments. Furniture to be given away to those in need will be stored in a storage unit donated by The Lock Box on Macland Road. 1-800 Got Junk will pick up items for a small fee. It is with the support of businesses like these that they continue to meet needs in this community.
